As the company grew, its business-critical files continued to accumulate on a single on-premises Windows server with limited storage capacity and no offsite protection, creating a significant business continuity risk.
Mallow implemented a secure cloud storage solution using Tiger Bridge and Amazon S3, enabling intelligent file tiering without changing how employees accessed their files. By automatically moving inactive files to Amazon S3 while keeping them instantly accessible through Windows File Explorer, the solution improved data protection, optimized local storage, and established a scalable foundation for future business growth.

What was the client’s key challenge
Approximately 100 GB of business-critical files were stored on a single 256 GB on-premises Windows server. As storage usage continued to grow, the organization faced increasing operational risk because every important file existed only on the local server, with no cloud backup or offsite copy available.
The organization required a solution that could securely protect business data in the cloud while avoiding expensive infrastructure upgrades or disrupting the familiar file access experience employees relied on every day.

What was our approach
Rather than deploying traditional file synchronization tools that maintain duplicate copies of data and consume additional local storage, we evaluated multiple cloud storage approaches and selected an intelligent cloud tiering strategy that aligned with the client’s operational requirements.
Using Tiger Bridge integrated with Amazon S3, we implemented automated file tiering that transparently moves inactive files to cloud storage while preserving the existing file structure and user workflow. We further strengthened the solution with Amazon S3 encryption, versioning, and policy-driven data management to improve security, optimize storage utilization, and establish long-term data protection without introducing complexity for end users.
